Elephant ride - Yes or No?

The fact that riding them is already a torture, in what sense of human thinking are you in that you will consider riding them is an ultimate sense of achievement and stand as a prove that you've been to South East Asia, to Thailand?
Scientifically and foremost, elephants' back are not meant to support human weight given the giant size, unbelievable but it's true. Next up, inhumane trainings are forced, not given to the baby elephants, isolated from the mother which in their nature, supposedly to live in a herd. Once separated from mother, baby elephants are cramped to restraint the movement, starves for days till months and enormous amount of pain infliction to become an entertainment in human's world, as a painter, and the list goes on.
How riding an elephant can make you feel closer to one when you are indirectly killing them? Read about the elephant that died because of carrying tourists for jungle trekking? Lack of water, high-rise temperature but because to fulfil our greed and satisfy our need, they sacrifices and mourn in a forceful manner that remain silent in our world.
Elephant's sanctuary provide a better-off option is it not right? Naturally gentle being is treated with love, volunteers can take care of them, live with them, sprinkle water all over (elephant's favourite) and feed them. Aren't all recommended above sounded more significant and meaningful in preserving it? Let them be who they are, understanding never meant for slaughtering their rights.
Tourists shouldn't be blame completely as they themselves are unaware of this escalating issue. It is indeed our demand that causes more harm to these gentle and lovely being. As my points of view do not represent the whole humanity, it's up for one with conscience to ponder. Also I respect everyone as we practices different moral and ethical values.
Regards,
Edwin
